Overview

The CAA regulates and issues air transportation and navigation, airworthiness, and other technical directives that apply to all aircraft flying into or out of the Kingdom of Bahrain. As part of its regulatory role, the CAA also serves as the governing body for setting laws and regulations related to aviation issues and is responsible for ensuring that all stakeholders comply with and commit to all regulations while meeting their obligations. The CAA also assumes responsibility for the issuing of licenses, permits and certification for various activities including aircraft registration, personnel licenses, aircraft operations, and airline schedules. The CAA is also responsible for providing meteorological services including weather reports and forecasts as well as meteorological information.

Directorates falling within the Civil Aviation Affairs:

Aeronautical Licensing
Oversees flight safety in Bahrain’s aviation sector and ensures compliance with the Bahrain Civil Aviation Law, Air Navigation Technical Regulations (ANTR), and ICAO standards. The directorate also issues licenses for aircraft operations and airworthiness.

Air Navigation Systems
Provides technical support for aviation systems such as radars, communication networks, navigation aids, and weather services. It also manages the Ministry's internal networks and phone services, supports CAA projects, and helps ensure safety standards meet ICAO requirements.

Air Traffic Management
Manages air traffic control services in the Bahrain Flight Information Region and Bahrain International Airport. This includes Aeronautical Information Management, airspace planning, and search and rescue operations, all in line with ICAO standards. It also handles planning for related regional and international projects.

Air Transport
Handles air transport regulations, international agreements, airline schedule approvals, and issues licenses for cargo and other aviation-related activities.

Aviation Safety and Security
Ensures all airport service providers, operators, and air navigation services follow safety and security standards outlined in Bahrain’s civil aviation regulations, the National Civil Aviation Security Program, and ICAO guidelines.

Meteorology
Provides weather services and forecasts to civil aviation, marine operations, government, media, military, and the public. It ensures services follow standards from the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and ICAO.
