The Ministry of Transportation’s Land Transport Affairs participated in the “Youth for Public Transport” event which was held parallel to the MENA Transport Congress and Exhibition 2014 held in Dubai World Trade Centre, UAE.

The Youth for Public Transport initiative was launched with the overall aim of promoting the active participation of young people in advocating sustainable mobility by promoting the integrated use of public transport with other means of transport to achieve greater well-being and a better quality of life of all people around the world. The initiative also calls for today’s youth to becoming ambassadors spread all over the world and working together in promoting sustainable development to communities worldwide.

This is the first time the Kingdom of Bahrain – represented by the Ministry of Transportation - partakes in an event relating to youth and public transportation which was by attended by Omar Mohammed Yousif and Talal Salah Al Sayed. By participating in this event, this serves as a first step towards emphasizing the role of youth and getting them involved in promoting better transportation systems that provide a positive mobility experience and accessibility to all citizens.

The event was hosted by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and was attended by 34 youth from 19 countries and included members of the International Youth for Public Transport Foundation and Dubai Youth for Public Transport (Y4PT); who act as ambassadors in raising the awareness about the importance of public transport.
